Our namesake journal (we're pretty interchangable with the term literary magazine/litmag and journal, whatever you want to call it is good with us) is a lovingly curated collection of writing and visual art that makes us so excited we lose sleep over the thought of publishing it and dance around the kitchen while re-reading it.
We publish prize winners and first-timers, formal poetry and free verse, family photos and computer generated art-poems, short stories and instruction manuals, horoscope readings and comics... As long as it's printable, Placeholder is open to seeing if we fall in love with it.
We're still working on our new online store to sell print copies on, but we make digital versions of the magazine available for free. We used to have it as a pay what you want download on our store, but that just felt like extra steps that made it less convenient for you to read this work we adore. If anyone really wants to pay us we can put a paypal button somewhere one day, but there's zero expectation. It's free, because it's brilliant and we want you to read it.
PDF copies available from the buttons above, and we're working on epub/mobi files too - mainly for additional screenreader accessibility, but as an added bonus that means it'll be better for ereaders like kindles, because better accessibility benefits everybody.
